Supporting one another

There are a lot of non-profit organizations that are doing great work, especially with girls and women in sub-Saharan Africa and the Diaspora. We want to encourage and support each other as there is plenty of work to be done but few laborers. We also believe in collaboration - why should both of us work separately to achieve the same goal when we can bring our best to the shared table and do much more?

Here are some of our friends - that is, great organizations that we like and respect. We collaborate with some, and support all. If your non-profit or non-governmental organization is interested in collaborating with IEWAD, please contact us.

GrassROOTS Community Foundation is a collaborative effort of Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, co-founder and lead MC of the Grammy Award Winning group, the Roots, and sociologist, Dr. Janice Johnson Dias. We are committed to contributing to the health and well-being of vulnerable populations and disadvantaged communities. Merging the talents of socially conscious artists with those of a rigorous scientific research and creative team, we are investing our energies to developing the capacity of community based organizations that offer educational and recreational services to disadvantaged women and girls. We see women and girls as the foundation of our society. An investment in them, their families, and the organizations that work with them is an investment in our futures.

Girl Rising is a global campaign for girls’ education. We use the power of storytelling to share the simple truth that educating girls can transform societies. Girl Rising unites girls, women, boys and men who believe every girl has the right to go to school and the right to reach her full potential.
Our mission is to change the way the world values the girl.
Everything we do is to ensure that girls’ education is part of the mainstream conversation. We raise awareness about the issue, inspire action and drive resources to our partners, and together we make change happen.
